What is a Titanium Plate?

  • Release time: 2025-09-30

Titanium plate is a non-ferrous metal sheet primarily composed of titanium. Its manufacturing process includes hot forging, hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing, and other procedures, with products categorized into hot-worked, cold-worked, and annealed states. China's titanium plate production capacity is concentrated in the Shaanxi region, accounting for 51.6% of the national titanium material output in 2021. Usage in the chemical and aerospace sectors increased by 11,078 tons and 5,222 tons, respectively. As a core industrial area, it features a 10,000-ton titanium plate and strip production line and has achieved breakthroughs in rolling technology for 0.1mm wide titanium foil. Titanium sheet is used in aviation for aircraft skin and landing gear components, in medical fields as implant materials, and in marine engineering for pressure-resistant hulls, forming a multi-dimensional application system covering high-end manufacturing.

Characteristics of Titanium Plate

High Strength: The strength of titanium plate far exceeds that of ordinary steel, ensuring stable performance under various pressure conditions.
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: A dense titanium oxide protective film forms on the surface of titanium sheet, providing strong corrosion resistance suitable for harsh environments.
Lightweight: With low density, titanium plate is lighter than other metals, facilitating transportation and installation.

Application Fields of Titanium Plate

Due to its lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance, titanium sheet is widely used in aerospace, medical, chemical, construction, and other sectors.
Aerospace: Titanium plate is extensively applied in aircraft fuselages, engine components (e.g., compressor blades, combustion chambers), and rocket structures. Its high strength-to-weight ratio reduces weight, improves fuel efficiency, and withstands extreme temperatures.
Medical Field: Titanium sheet is ideal for medical devices like artificial joints, bone plates, and dental implants due to its biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and minimal immune rejection.
Chemical and Petroleum: Titanium plate is used in reaction kettles, heat exchangers, and piping systems, offering excellent resistance to strong acids, alkalis, and chlorine-containing media, thereby extending equipment lifespan.
Architecture and Design: Titanium sheet is increasingly used in building facades, roofs, and art installations for its durability and unique aesthetics.
Other Applications: Titanium plate is also employed in shipbuilding, marine engineering, electronics, and energy storage, with outstanding seawater corrosion resistance requiring minimal maintenance.

Titanium sheet offers unmatched properties compared to other metals, enabling significant contributions across various fields. Its production and use involve low energy consumption, supporting energy savings and emissions reduction in line with low-carbon economic trends. With ongoing development of titanium resources, the application prospects for titanium plate will expand further, promoting sustainable societal development.
