Non-ferrous metals are metals which do not contain iron (Fe)usually as a primary component. Unlike ferrous metals (e.g., steel, cast iron), they are generally more corrosion-resistant, lighter, and non-magnetic, which make the non-ferrous metals essential in industries where weight, conductivity, or rust resistance matters.

Main features of non-ferrous metals

1.No iron content(Do not rust).

2.Lightweight.

3.Non-magnetic.

4.High conductivity.

5.Ductile & malleable

Common Types of Non-Ferrous Metals:

Aluminum (Al),Copper (Cu),Lead (Pb),Zinc (Zn),Tin(Sn),Nickel (Ni),Titanium (Ti).Precious Metals (Gold, Silver, Platinum).

Why are non-ferrous metals important?

1.Electronics(Copper wires, gold plating in circuits).

2.Aerospace(Aluminum & Titanium for lightweight strength).

3.Renewable Energy(Copper in solar panels, wind turbines).

4.Medical(Titanium implants, silver antibacterial coatings).

5.Common daily use(kitchen items, sports products, like bicycle).
