  On June 25, Xi’an Economic & Technological Development Zone (Xi’an ETZ) hosted a special new materials industry signing event themed Gather Industrial Chains of New Materials, Forge Ahead into the Future. Leveraging its unique geographic and strategic location advantages in Northwest China’s core hub, the zone attracted eight high-quality projects across segmented high-end new material sectors for centralized signing and settlement, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality upgrading of the regional new materials industry. The settled projects cover the Hantang New Materials Testing Base & R&D Center, Baotitan Metal Materials Laboratory, Xinpaide High-Purity Niobium Material Manufacturing Project, and the industrialization project of short-process powder metallurgy structural titanium alloy components for aircraft developed by Ouzhong Technology, alongside key fields including modified polymer materials, optical imaging technology and precision alloys.

    Strategically positioned as the central gateway connecting East and West China and the core industrial hub of Northwest China, Xi’an ETZ boasts unparalleled geographic advantages for new material industrial development. Overview of the Eight Signed Core Projects

  1. Hantang New Materials Testing Base & R&D Center

         The project fills the critical professional testing gap in the zone’s closed-loop industrial system covering R&D, pilot testing, mass production and performance inspection. Relying on the zone’s central geographic location and regional radiation advantages, it will provide one-stop professional testing and technical services for new material enterprises across Northwest China, improving the overall supporting capacity of the regional industrial chain.

  1. Baotitan Metal Materials Laboratory

        Upon official operation, the laboratory is expected to complete more than 3,700 professional testing and experimental projects annually. Supported by Xi’an ETZ’s superior location as the core gathering place of China’s rare metal industry, it will further consolidate the zone’s leading status as Asia’s largest seamless titanium tube production base and strengthen its cross-regional technical service and industry radiation capabilities.

  1. Xinpaide High-Purity Niobium Material Manufacturing Project

         The project adopts self-developed and domestically leading integrated purification and smelting technologies, achieving independent breakthroughs in the localization of high-purity tantalum and niobium materials. Benefiting from the zone’s convenient logistics and central geographic layout, it will effectively reduce regional production and transportation costs, and supply high-end rare metal materials for aerospace, new energy and high-end equipment industries nationwide.

  1. Ouzhong Technology Industrialization Project of Short-Process Powder Metallurgy Structural Titanium Alloy Components for Aircraft

        This project focuses on the industrialization and mass production of high-end aerospace titanium alloy structural parts. Backed by the zone’sstrategic location adjacent to national aerospace industry clusters and complete industrial supporting facilities, it accelerates the transformation of advanced aviation material technologies and empowers the development of the domestic high-end aerospace manufacturing industry.

    In addition, other signed projects cover modified polymer materials, optical imaging technology, precision alloys and other high-value segmented tracks, further enriching the zone’s new material industrial system and giving full play to its regional geographic aggregation advantages.
